Is GeoChat AI free?
Yes. GeoChat AI has a free tier with no credit card required. Expert services, such as expert review of AI findings and custom needs assessment reports, are paid.
What data does GeoChat AI use?
It uses public, open data. Population figures come from Census Bureau ACS 2020–2024 5-year estimates, with race and ethnicity from the 2020 Census. Provider counts come from the NPPES registry (October 2026 file). GeoChat Atlas also has more than 100 layers from CMS, HRSA, CDC and other public sources. See data sources and methods.
What is GeoChat Atlas?
GeoChat Atlas, at atlas.geochat.ai, is version 2 of GeoChat AI's mapping platform. It replaces the earlier app at app.geochat.ai.
How often is the data updated?
There is no automatic refresh. Each source is updated by hand after its publisher releases a new version. The versions in use are listed on the methods page.
Which areas does GeoChat AI cover?
All 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, at county, ZIP code and census tract level. ZIP code values are Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs).
Does the AI chat search the web?
No. The chat has no web search and is instructed to report only figures returned by its queries of the platform's datasets. This is an instruction to the model, not a guarantee, so check figures against the map and the original source before you report them.

Teams working on community health needs assessments, rural health, PACE, personal care and home health, community health worker programs and workforce analysis.
Can GeoChat AI count providers in an area?
Yes. GeoChat Atlas counts providers by county and ZIP code from the NPPES registry (October 2026 file). Counts are registrations, not full-time clinicians. See data sources and methods.
What if the map I need isn't there?
Nonprofit organizations can request a new map from inside the platform. Requests shape which maps are added next.
Can I use GeoChat AI in a hospital CHNA?
You can use its maps as part of your analysis. The IRS requires the CHNA report to describe the data and other information used (IRS). See the CHNA access-gap mapping guide.
Is GeoChat AI still being developed?
Yes. The platform is new. The current version, GeoChat Atlas at atlas.geochat.ai, is version 2.
